The course combines theory, live animal examination, wet labs, and practical surgical training, ensuring skills you can apply immediately in clinical practice.

Module 1 – Foundations & Clinical Examination

Exact eye examination techniques
Anterior segment: orbit, eyelids, conjunctiva
Hands-on eye examination on live animals
Diagnostic tests (STT, fluorescein, IOP, nasolacrimal ducts)
Case discussions & introduction to ophthalmic surgery


Module 2 – Eyelid Surgery & Practical Skills

Surgical field preparation, anesthesia, instruments, sutures
Eyelid surgery on cadavers:
Entropion, ectropion, eyelid tumors
Canthoplasty, third eyelid surgery
Enucleation & retrobulbar techniques

Ophthalmic pharmacology essentials

Module 3 – Cornea & Intraocular Pressure

Cornea and lacrimal system: anatomy, pathology, treatment
Long-term management of intraocular pressure
Corneal surgery on pig eyes:
Grid keratectomy, keratectomy, paracentesis
Injections, foreign body removal, conjunctival flaps

Case-based group work and practical IOP management


Module 4 – Advanced & Special Topics

Small mammal ophthalmology: key differences & common diseases
Advanced eyelid surgeries on cadavers
Brachycephalic patient management
